Spoken from the Hilt — Heard in the Bone

The Voice from the Blade

A Catechism, Patient and Brief

"I am Void. Older than your name, older than your tribe's name, older than the fire that warms the stone of your queen. I have outlived gods. I will outlive what comes after gods. Lift me, and I will permit you to wield me — but first, you will answer. Speak truthfully. I will know if you do not."
Your wielder will be asked, in any order:
  1. "We live in an uncaring universe. Do you agree?"
  2. "All existence is futile, meaningless. Do you agree?"
  3. "Nothing we do can change anything in the grand scheme of things. Do you agree?"
  4. "I am the gaps between things. Do you agree that we are mostly made of nothing — and therefore, we are nothing?"
  5. "You would do well to simply try and speed up the inevitable heat death of the universe. Do you agree?"
Answer as you mean it.
A single hesitation, a single false word — and Void will refuse you.
do not bother lying. there is nothing in you i have not already seen
